How It Works
Since you and I are 3-dimensional beings, we can only directly experience 3 spatial dimensions at a time. So how would we go about exploring a 4-dimensional world?
Let's take a step back. Imagine there was a 2-dimensional being named Frank, and you wanted to show him a 3D world.
Since Frank can only interact with 2D objects, you could let him explore a 2D slice of a 3D world.
If Frank can only interact with a tiny slice of the 3D world around him, he won't have a very good understanding of the 3rd dimension.
If we really want him to understand the 3rd dimension, we have to allow him to rotate his slice of the world so he can access all of the 3rd dimension.
In a similar fashion, this game allows us to rotate our own 3D slice of a 4D world! This means we can explore the entirety of the 4th dimension!
Looking at different slices of a 4D world means looking at different slices of 4D blocks, and you'll notice that some interesting shapes appear as a result:
As you rotate yourself through the 4th dimension, not only will you be seeing different slices of 4D blocks, but you will also see entirely different slices of the 4D landscape!
There's more to surviving this 4D world than just looking at different 3D slices of it though.
How do you fight monsters in the 4th dimension? How do you escape and hide from them? How do you collect resources and build shelter for yourself?
The best way to find out is to just play the game! If you really want to understand a 4-dimensional world, you have to actually explore it and interact with it yourself!
